_thinkMake Week-6:Active engagement in the space
New Ontologies
As we approach the beginning of our class we have started with a presentation on the reading “New Ontologies”. After that presentation, we gave our input, and understanding on this topic. I’ll be describing my understanding of the reading in another blog. It was a helpful session for us to learn and think from different perspectives.
For this section of the class, we choose 7 words as usual from the readings. Which are:
- [ ] Fundamental
- [ ] Destination
- [ ] Excavate
- [ ] Repair
- [ ] Ontology
- [ ] Abstract
- [ ] Contemporary
Time for a blind drawing. This time it was our classroom that we were given to observe for 3 minutes and then do the drawing for 5 minutes. The only rule was we could not stop drawing in that specific 5 minutes. During the 3-minute observation, we had to look for all those small details and we were tasked to put as many as details we could put in our drawing.
From these 7 different words, I select 3 of them to turn them into verbs. They are:
- [ ] To priorities
- [ ] To dig
- [ ] To present
Time for another delicate blind drawing. For 7 long minutes, we were asked to sketch without stopping the pencil. The whole time in my mind I prioritized those 3 verbs.
I was trying to dig up something out of it. I was really hungry at that time, some weird sounds were making my stomach which I tried to put in my sketch. As all of us were doing continuous sketches it was making sounds like machinery which I also put into my sketch.
Time for a performance. The object I chose was a chair. Got 20 minutes for the prep. And we practiced individually for the performance with the object we chose. To perform we took a piece of paper and put scores for the performance. I draw my score on that paper. There was 10 score that I found for my performance which I drew. Then I practice it.
At the end, we had 2 minutes to perform all together with our own chosen object. And here is the video of that performance.
There was 10 score that I performed. I attached those images as well
In that 10 score, I marked one where I took the chair on my head and turned around, another one was walking for a bit and turned around, and some was acting with the chair as one of my dresses. Overall I tried to make up as many forms of act as I could using that chair.
There was a discussion about the performance which was interesting in so many ways that help each one of us to think differently and to act accordingly.
