_thinkMake Week-5:Active engagement in the space

It's always been fun to attend a class, Mr Oren. As we approach week 4 class we began as usual with a presentation from Mahya and Hain about the reading of “Chapter III Making Do- Uses and Tactics”. From the presentation, there was a lot to take. It helped me to think from a different perspective. Specifically, the Strategies and Tactics section. It was very specific and to the point. Strategies help us to do stuff within boundaries where we are surrounded by specific rules, to be exactly scripted. Tactics help us to do the same thing with no boundaries where we are independent to do things in our way.

We had a discussion about the reading after the presentation. It was very fruitful. We shared our thoughts and perspectives. It helped us to think out of the box.

Every single one of us chose 7 different words from the reading. Then we had a small conversation about the thesis topics that we wanted to work with. I shared my thoughts about it. The approximate topic I thought of is children's thoughts. Although I’m still thinking of different topics for my thesis topics.

From those seven words, we chose 3 words out of those 7. And we did a role-play with a group of 4 members and 12 different words. To absorb, To complex, To give and take are the words that I chose.  We chose a place for the roleplay which is the staircase. What we did in the roleplay was me and Hein holding hands together, Linea went through us and made a pave-out it, Mahya took out a pin from the board by force and gave it to my hand, and we had some hand sanitizer from the bottle and rubbed it to absorb it, we rode backward to the stairs to make it complex for us, we tried to sat there in different ways and tried to adjust accordingly, we looked down from the stairs and tried to imagine different things as well. And this is how we finished this activity.

Here comes the most exciting session. The blind drawing is what I wait for in every class. Even whenever I’m at home or outing I try to draw for a few minutes with closed eyes.

I sat on a corner of the staircase. It was a fire stair. As I sat on the ground it was cold. I was listening to some footsteps and because it was a fire stair there was a door on every floor. Someone was in and out using that door and it was making a lot of sounds. Which is why it was making eco. And it was very loud and a bit disturbing as well. Because I was sitting on the ground, I put my left hand on the ground and what I felt was sand. Then I was thinking if there is a fire hazard then how crowded it will be and also the sound it could make. So I tried to sketch up everything that I was thinking and feeling.

Here comes the last session of our class. We were asked to design or install something from a spot we chose. As I was working with staircase I chose it as my subject. I wanted to solve this with acoustic plaster on the wall, acoustic tiles, and acoustic panels so that the sound can be absorbed and no more echo happens. Then I was thinking something out of the box which sounds brutal. I was wondering if I could disappear the whole stairs and install something vertically. Where I’ll be exhibiting architectural projects. I was thinking of a capsule lift to install so people can ride vertically and see those projects. Also, I was wondering if I could make some slits by what I could generate some light into this place. It will be something interesting and playful place for people to visit.
